Every contribution to the 487th Bomb Group Memorial Fund helps us preserve this piece of history for future generations.
The men of the 487th Bombardment Group flew 185 missions from this Suffolk field. Thirty-three aircraft did not return. FOLA exists to ensure their service is not forgotten — and to maintain the memorial that stands in their honour.
All proceeds from the summer walks go directly to the Memorial Fund, but our work requires year-round support. Whether you are a local resident, a military history enthusiast, or a family member of one of the men who served here, your donation — of any size — makes a direct difference.
How Your Donation Is Used
- Memorial maintenance — keeping the 487th memorial in good order and ensuring it remains a fitting place of commemoration
- Walk organisation — guides, equipment, insurance, and access arrangements for the summer walk programme
- Archive and research — building our mission log, crew profiles, and photographic archive
- Memorial Day commemoration — staging the annual service open to all
- Education — talks, school visits, and outreach work to bring this history to new audiences
